Heritage, Construction & Performance
Heritage & Design
The Power 39 is a modern adaptation of 1930's Pacific Northwest "Dreamboats" — cruisers defined by a raised foredeck with sleeping accommodation, a deckhouse with windows all around over the engine space, and a covered aft cockpit. We increased the beam and added a hard chine-vee bottom for better initial stability and excellent performance at higher speeds, while preserving the unmistakable Dreamboat silhouette.
Performance
At her half-load displacement of 8,000 kg the P39 cruises at 10 knots with a comfortable 375 NM range including a 20% fuel reserve — or up to 468 NM maximum range without reserve. At 14 knots the range is 270 NM with 20% reserve. With 190 kW on tap she reaches a top speed of 17 knots, true semi-displacement performance from a wooden hull.
Construction
Multiple planking layers on a combined transverse and longitudinal laminated mahogany frame. The entire structure is laminated with epoxy — modern engineering with traditional craftsmanship and detail. The result feels like a traditional wooden yacht, yet the wood is fully sealed and joined to eliminate maintenance issues or deterioration.
Accommodation
Forward: a full-width owner's cabin with centerline double berth, lockers port and starboard, opening skylight and portlights. Aft of that, a roomy head with separate shower stall to port and a guest cabin with upper/lower berths to starboard. Three steps up to the deckhouse — windows all around, helm and nav station forward, in-line galley aft on starboard, and a dining area with a lift-up table. Out the deckhouse door, a covered aft deck with seating, removable table, watertight storage below, and the arched wooden swim-grid at the stern.
